next for the sd legislature groups get to work on issues for next term. sex abuse and education tops

and now  for the south dakota legislature now that the main work is done including a fast day of vetoes. next is forming groups that will study issues for the summer and then look at telling the legislature to deal with for the next session next year. with the tops one being sex abuse  after due to a last minute defeat the panel studying what to do including making it so when kids report sex abuse the message does not get scrambled going through the chain of command with adult authorties. the pannel would up having to have the governor step in and keep it going. plus the other big issue since highway repair is taken care of  is education again mostly a panel since daugard and co can’t get it through their minds that south dakota needs to find a source and fund education right including the big issue the panel will deal with teachers pay raising it as they should . as next the summer panels start working on what will be the biggies for the next term of the south dakota legislature next year with education back again .

sd legislature hits the final week. the biggie now to come the budget.

and thus the sd legislature now enters its final week already hard to believe it but time flies  with some of the big issues they will take up and try to get done from fixing the juvenile justice system so  offenders can  be switched  to like community treatments and cut down on the jail numbers.  and also a bill to cover autism by insurance  plus the other main biggie finaly funding highway repairs. but the big thing of course this week at long last the budget now  though duegarrd will have to wait to see what the numbers is before seeing if he will get his full fifty million spending plus he also made it clear that the next budget cycle due to decline revenue will not be big meaning a cut again in spending as the legislature hits the final bit to the finish of its session this week. taking up the biggies including the budget .

next for the sd legislature plans to prevent another eb5 scandal.

and next on south dakota legilslatures plans and one of the first few bills besides the one that would allow emts to carry epi pens to treat over dose. is plans and bills to make sure a scandal like eb5 does not happen again . the plan proposed by the speaker of the house himself that would prevent the conflict of interests for deals like eb5 make it so those who have one will discouraged. plus also  a couple bills that would stream line ones ability to challenge nomination petitions.  one setting a time limit to challenge one in court. based off of the annete bosworth scandal and both sponsored by krebs the sect of state herself. as the legislature now adds preventing any more scandal repeats to the south dakota agenda now.

sd legislature may see a ban of guns in places where government meets.

even though south dakota is really big on guns and would not do any thing to come close to violate the second amendment the sd legislature when they meet in the coming year may find a gun ban on their agenda as some towns being lead by siox falls plan to push the legislature for a ban on guns being alllowed into a building where government meets. mostly citing that some meetings with government both local and state can get heated and after one story where one guy brought in a loaded gun to a cousil meeting. south dakota towns don’t wan to take the risk. even though just like the texting and driving ban the thing will get no where. it will die or if it makes it pass the committee to the senate it will get killed in the house or vetoed by Daugard any way. as coming for the legislature a ban on letting guns be taken into government buildings or when government officials meet.

south dakota sees budget surpluses grow means legislature wanting to spend

with the governor saying that his frugal ways of balancing south dakota budget is paying off even though some things took a hit like education. one thing is backing up the governors ways . south dakotas budget surplus keeps growing this time up t159mill in reserves which means the state legilature will be wanting to tap into it and spend it including for education with the governor being okay but causious saying not to much for one does not know what the fincial out look will be between now and then better to keep money in the reserves . which means a show down brewing since the legsilature will be as their top priorty wanting to spend some much needed money on education. citing the budget surpluses. a fight no doubt for the governor will want to be careful handling the purse strings even with some money laying around in the bank. though given how education and medicare cuts are what enabled the surpluses in the end the governor could allow just a little bit not fully restore the cuts but maybe half the money cut. as south dakota budget winds up in the red more and more. surplus growing.

three days for the state legislature to get some things done do or die for bills

and for the south dakota legislature its main run its a do or die race for bills including the texting and driving ban. and of course the abortion bill having the waiting period for woman not include holidays and weekends. stupidity normal for the south dakota legilstures plus the old school sentry bill. as the race begins since wednesday is the last day the legislature can pass or kill or talk about any new bill then a break then come back for the big big thing the budget and vetoes trying to override any .but mostly now the south dakota legislature is entering the do or die time race for they only have coming after today 72 hours for them to debate pass or kill bills which odds are unless the senate manages to pull a miracle and pass the thing first to die will be the texting and driving ban unless it reaches the house and somehow squeks buy plus odds are in the race the school sentry bill will wind up sitting on the governors desk as the race begins now for the south dakota legislature to get some things done before they do the big battle the budget a balanced one plus also have to manage to squek some school aid funding in the time they have left this week. race on to get things done for the south dakota legilsture.as wednesday is the day every thing either lives or dies.

one abortion bill killed the liablity for doctors who do not tell about defects

at least even though any abortion bill is one too many for that is one thing legislatures need to leave alone for its a womans right to with her someas she sees fit. not government. at least one abortion bill will not be delt with this week in the state legislature as the house tabled a bill that would make a doctor not liable if he choosed not to do test proving some abnomolies or birth defects that would have allowed the parents to decide to abort the pregnacy . called wrong ful birth lawsuits. the bill wound up tabled in the house. with its sponsor saying south dakota has statures even though out dated to deal with that situation at least partialy. as one abortion bill in south dakota winds up dieing a quick death . the legislature won’t be dealing with it at all till proably next legislature year. or maybe never now . and the 72 hour waiting period the thing is moving to the full house who thakfuly they have to wednesday to decide its fate though odds are that one will pass knowing my states thinking.

sd legislatures looking to talk about medicare expansion

finaly looks like not only did common sense finaly visit the sd legislature but most of them finaly relize that like it or not its a done deal that the health care act is law plus the fact expanding medicare means funds too. too bad the governor doesn’t finaly stop all his excuses and just give into expanding medicare. as the legislatures are now planning to talk about the issue looking to even though the state will be last to do so since odds are any bill trying to do so this late in the game will go no where and get vetoed. talking proably now for 2014 late since the act fully goes into play. but at least the legislature is finaly using its head and accepting some things including the cost in the long run that could wind up saved by letting more people quilify for medicare by expansion. proably not now till next year when the bill is in full effect for the state has not had its exchange set up yet. plus the governor keeps making excuses to not do so.
